This is one of the simplest ways to help out our cause. We (Michael and Carlos)Â believe the best way for our initiatives to be successful is for the community to actively get involved. We meet on select Sundays to cook meals for the underhoused populations in Oakville and Hamilton and bring along with us pamphlets to educate community members on the vaccine and help them book an appointment.

OPEN A ONE-DAY VACCINATION CLINIC IN HAMILTON THROUGH COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL PHARMACISTS
Our hope is that the Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine becomes more available (currently the government has refrained from vaccinating people due to a possible quality control issue although it is approved). If that is not the case, we have been contacting various pharmacists to help us vaccinate homeless who lack documentation. An issue we have been facing is the lack of tracking for the second dose. A solution we are experimenting with is taking photos of all the people who have received the first dose in order to follow up with them for the second dose.

In the meantime, please feel free to download our pamphlet and give it out to local homeless communities you feel might benefit from the health information. If you choose to opt for this, please try and find a shelter that is vaccinating underhoused individuals near you and relay the information to the homeless community you are serving.
